The 2013 Employee Excellence Awards recognize the outstanding contributions that have helped move the company forward in becoming the leading provider of vein and vascular health care. Chief Medical Executive Gordon F. Gibbs, MD, and his wife, CEO Erin Gibbs, co-founded American Vein & Vascular Institute, opening their first facility in 2009 in Pueblo, Colorado, and subsequently opening facilities in the Colorado cities of Parker, Canon City, and Vail. The company expanded in 2012 into Arlington, Texas, with the opening of Trinity Vein Institute. American Vein & Vascular Institute began with three employees and now employs almost 50. In the past year and a half, American Vein & Vascular Institute has become the largest network of vein and vascular centers in Colorado, and is focusing on further expansion.

The awards were given to the following:

The Clinic of the Year Award went to Trinity Vein Institute in Arlington.

“The selection process was difficult as all of our employees at American Vein & Vascular Institute are dedicated to the field of vein care,” says Dr. Gibbs. “These employees exemplify the spirit of excellence and caring that is central to our mission to successfully treat patients suffering from venous and arterial disease.”

According to the American Vein & Vascular Institute, nearly 30 million Americans suffer from venous disease – a chronic and potentially debilitating condition where the vein walls or valves weaken, stretch or become damaged, and normal blood flow is interrupted. Vascular technologists use ultrasound imaging equipment to visualize the vascular system in real time. This technology can non-invasively locate and quantify the extent of venous and arterial disease processes. Treatment options for venous disease are mostly office-based, minimally invasive procedures. At American Vein & Vascular Institute, a provider develops a customized treatment plan based on the patient’s ultrasound exam, health concerns, lifestyle and preference.
