PUEBLO, Colo- Jennifer Medina, FNP, AGACNP, board certified nurse practitioner and phlebologist joins the vein experts at American Vein & Vascular Institute.

“I came to American Vein & Vascular Institute so that I could be part of an amazing team,” explains Medina. “This allows me the opportunity to put patients first and make a difference in peoples’ lives.”

Medina received her training through a rigorous fellowship program developed and led by Gordon F. Gibbs, MD, American Vein & Vascular Institute’s Founder and Chief Medical Executive. Prior to vein care, Medina earned a Master of Science in Family and Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Medicine from Colorado State University Pueblo.

The fellowship program offered at American Vein & Vascular Institute is a six-month program that mirrors the curriculum endorsed by the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine. This is open to doctors and mid-level healthcare professionals who specialize in phlebology and are interested in future employment with American Vein & Vascular Institute. Fellows train under Dr. Gibbs and receive encouragement and direction from other American Board of Lymphatic and Venous Medicine Diplomates at American Vein & Vascular Institute as well as supporting staff and administrative leaders.

“We are extremely excited to have Jennifer join our practice as a phlebologist,” said Gibbs. “We take pride in our multidisciplinary expert staff and we are pleased to welcome another graduate of the fellowship program to the team.”

The American Vein & Vascular Institute’s Phlebology Fellowship includes didactic studies, observation, hands-on training and immersion into a practice culture that is based on patient care and service. New fellows are introduced to patients as trainees, and their presence and participation gradually increases, commensurate with their knowledge base and competency.

In addition to medical treatments, Fellows learn office operations and flow; computer and phone systems as well as they become familiar with the variety of ultrasound studies offered in our Diagnostic Center.
